The Perfect Fit!
Everyone comes into this world with a certain body shape, ether your a tall, short skinny or plus size, everyone has their unique figure, and what comes with this is in mind, is finding the clothing that flaunts and suites your body shape. I’m sure their are many times that you loved a certain type of trendy clothing, that set you in the must have mind set, but to a disappointment, when you looked in the mirror, your mind went from love it to love to hate it! Nevertheless, with the thousands and millions of fashion divas out their, designing new looks, and plus size shape wear, still the question to be asked.. What really works for my body?
There are three basic body shapes: pear, apple, and the hourglass figure. Most women are the apple and pear body types. On apple shape the upper body is larger than the lower body, when on pear shape is the opposite. An apple shaped women needs to draw attention to the lower body. That is why shoes are very important when dressing it adds length, to the body which gives a more even look . Flare/wide leg pants are also a must have in the wardrobe, which i have a million pairs, and love in any size group! A pear body type is the most common shape on women. You need to draw attention to your upper body, so a few clothing articles will definitely help you. Semi-fitted and form fitting tops are a must have best friends. Hourglass Body Shape
Women with an hourglass body shape are sometimes referred to as having a Figure Eight shape or an X-shape.
Characteristics of the plus size Hourglass figure:
- The top half of your body is similar in proportion to your lower body.
- Your back is average and soft with a medium size ribcage.
- Your upper arms are average in size but tend to be fleshly.
- Your bust is medium to large, shapely and full and is usually narrower or equal to your hips.
- You have a clearly defined waist, which could be 6″ to 9″ smaller than your bust and hips.
- Your hips are usually soft and round with full buttocks.
- Your thighs are full with a tendency toward inner and outer thigh bulging.
- Your legs are shapely and proportionately slender.
The greatest Hourglass Figure’s assets are:
- Balanced silhouette
- Voluptuous bust
- Feminine waist
- Proportionate and curvy hips
- Shapely legs
To enhance and balance the Hourglass silhouette, the objective is to:
- Accentuate the face, neck and décolleté area
- Highlight the waist
- Softly drape over the feminine curves of the bust and hips
- Overall elongate body silhouette
- Accentuate shapely legs
Apple Body Shape
Apple body shapes are sometimes referred to as O-shapes, Oval shapes or Round shapes.
Characteristics of the plus size Apple body shape:
- Overall, your upper body is larger than your lower body.
- You may have full breasts, usually larger than your hips.
- Your back tends to be broad and fleshly.
- Your arms could be slim while your shoulders could be wide.
- You have an undefined waistline.
- You carry your weight in the front midsection of your body.
- Your thighs are usually thinner with a slight fullness at the high hip.
- You often receive compliments on your shapely legs.
Your greatest assets are:
- Proportionately slender hips
- Balanced thighs
- Shapely legs
- Great arms
To enhance and balance the Apple silhouette, the objective is to:
- De-emphasize the tummy and draw the attention away from the midriff section
- Visually elongate the neck and face area
- Elongate the upper torso
- De-emphasize heavier back
- Accentuate thighs, hips, and shapely legs
As well, there are a few fashion tips you need to remember always when getting dressed or renewing your wardrobe. Dressing in one tone or lovely soft colors will definitely help your image, however, be open to new colors, red, royal blues, and so forth. Colors like these and more so, will really bring life to any closet as well, depending on your natural skin tones, and really rock your look up! Knowing what to dress all the time, is a difficult task for everyone, no matter the size. however, for plus sized women is even harder, when it comes to finding that perfect outfit when shopping. When looking at the local clothing line towards plus size women, their is an industry cut standard, however we all don’t fit into those “size Standards” Which in my next post I will be setting forth the innovated ideas of custom made clothing, an slightly different approce to buying plus size clothing from rockabilly, business, and street wear.
Most women wear clothes that are too big for them. Why? Because they think this way they’ll hide flaws. Really, I recommend to step out of this trend of over size clothing, take your time and experiment with different items and even go for things that fit a little tighter, more colors and learn that its ok to flaunt what you have just like any other girl! Any woman, even a plus size one can learn how to dress and gain more confidence. The first step is to really look in the mirror to observe your body. You must not be ashamed, no matter your body type or your weight. Always trust yourself, trust your instinct. You’ll know what clothes are the best for you if you really look at yourself when you wear them.
Ever had one of those days, where your getting ready, and their isn’t a darn thing in the closet that looks good on you that day, perhaps your throwing on outfit after outfit and still don’t feel that, Ultra Fabulous feeling.. Me to.. been their done that and of course got tired of it! When it comes down to it, its about what makes you feel good from the inside out, and most of this shows on how you present yourself to the world with your fashion choice. However, theirs a few combinations to this feeling fabulous look, the clothing is one thing but self confidence makes it bangin!
Self-Confidence takes time
Now, give a moment of thought, a time where you look in the mirror and see yourself, what ran through your head? .. Your ether the type of girl that loves what you see, or the type that sees nothing but a (yes im going to say it) ..fat girl that no one loves, that use to be me.. everyday my thoughts were focused on my size, walking around the mall, and only seeing skinny girl shops and clothing, thinking god why cant i just be 50 pounds lighter.. or more so 100! But thats no the case now, I’ve learned to be happy with my body, my outer apparence and to enhance it with the right clothing, accessories and of course the Ultra Fabulous attitude!
First off, It was a long self image journey to discover my inner and outer beauty, as well for yourself to. All that I share here is just myself and things i come across and love sharing, so by all means I’m not a professional.. I’m just a plus size girl in a skinny focus world. It came down to realizing that, Im the only person that can make myself feel good and look good, and forget about the imagery around me and of course the haters. No matter the age, young or old, we all have a moment where we question our body image, well the first step is to know, you are beautiful! and well, a long time ago about 4 years to be correct i made this video on youtube.. and still today its how I think, and because who I am..a Big Beautiful Plus Size Woman.. Now sorry for the quality of it but heck, I’m no tech gal.. just a fashion fabulous chick!
